Kit Assembly Guide

Thank you for purchasing a Sleep Sensei kit! It should only take about 10 minutes to assemble.

Your kit includes the following parts:

A quick note on glue: The Sleep Sensei has been designed to snap together without the need for glue. But if you’d like to, you can still choose to glue the parts together as you go along by placing small dabs of glue in the “valleys” of the connecting tabs as you snap the parts together. For the wooden Sleep Sensei, craft glue like Elmer’s works well. For the plastic Sleep Sensei, super glue works best.

Smoothing: Since the Sleep Sensei is made of natural bamboo, sometimes there can be splinters on the parts. To easily remove them, you can rub the parts on a rough dish towel or sandpaper for a few seconds, and it will smooth them down! Just make sure to wash the towel before using it again to avoid a splinter surprise.

Step 1: Attach sides to the front piece.

*A note on the orientation of the feet: If your Sleep Sensei is going to be tilted back (you have a nightstand/table shorter or equal in height to your bed) then attach the feet so the longer portion is towards the back to prevent the Sleep Sensei from falling backwards. If you have a tall nightstand or table, attach the feet with the long side facing forward to prevent the Sleep Sensei from falling when tilted forward.

Step 4: Prep and install electronics

If you got a bamboo Kickstarter kit, it included a pre-made wooden knob. Otherwise, your kit should have a metallic knob, and a set of pieces to make your own wooden knob. If you prefer an all-wood look, the following steps will describe how to glue together the pieces to create a knob. If you prefer to use the included knob, skip ahead to step 8.

3. The parts of the knob will be stacked in this order:

4. With the Sleep Sensei flat on its back, place on the first part of the knob

5. Apply a few small dabs of craft glue on the top of the first part.

6. Stack on the next part, wiping away any excess glue, and repeat this process until the knob is complete.

Put on the knob by aligning the flat portion with that of the metallic knob on the board.

7. Put on the knob by aligning the flat portion with that of the knob on the board.*

Push firmly to install the knob. The Sleep Sensei may turn on when you do this, but it will turn off automatically after 1 minute.

8. Push firmly to install the knob. This may turn the Sleep Sensei on , but it will turn off automatically after 1 minute.

*The metallic knob will go on in any orientation.

Step 7: Tighten hinge

Using a flathead screwdriver, tighten the hinge. Tight enough that it keeps its position, but loose enough that you can move it.
